Getting this thing started
Hey everyone, So the La Loma website is up, and getting semi-functional. At the moment, please ignore the links on the left, as they're a placeholder for when we start to get some actual pages up and running. If you're interested in working on the website, let me know. This is going to be a team project, and I'd love to have this site be an open opportunity for whatever La Loma residents want to make of it. You don't need any coding experience - blogger works just like any other livejournal or xanga or wordpress. You can even copy+paste stuff right out of Microsoft Word! If you do code, the site right now is limited to basic HTML and CSS, and while minor javascript might be possible, we won't be able to do any hardcore scripting until we build up beyond Blogger and get our own webserver. Here's the long term plan for the website:
  • Permanent information pages about everything La Loma - contact info, RA pages, and updates on the La Loma Residence Hall Association.
  • Blog with updates on upcoming and past events. I'd like to get a photography team and/or a reporter team to maintain a newsblog, covering the events and increasing awareness about the wonderful programs we have going on here in La Loma.
  • Calendar - Maintaining a calendar of events (I've got one already established on the right sidebar). I might make this an open calendar, so that just about anyone can post up notices and events.
  • Forum - Not set up yet, but sooner or later I'd like to get a forum up - for organizing, general interest, and maybe to discuss pending or upcoming issues before/between Hall Association meetings.
If you've got any other ideas, let me know. You can contact me at nathanyan@berkeley.edu, and I'm usually at the Hall Association meetings every Tuesday 9am at the La Loma TV Lounge. -Nathan Yan
